Sonam Wangchuk Discharged From Hospital

Sonam Wangchuk, the activist who had been on an indefinite fast, was discharged from Medanta Hospital in Gurugram on Monday.

He informed his followers about his discharge through a video message posted on social media.

In the video, Wangchuk stated that he would be visiting Rajghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi before returning to his home in Ladakh.

Wangchuk had begun his campaign by paying homage at Gandhi's memorial on June 28, before starting his indefinite fast at Jantar Mantar.

He expressed his gratitude to the people for their support and thanked the team of doctors and staff at Medanta Hospital.

Wangchuk's hunger strike, which lasted for 26 days, was part of a protest led by the CJP, which started on June 20.

On July 18, he was forcibly shifted to Safdarjung Hospital, where he felt like he was being kept in detention.

However, after a Delhi High Court order, he was shifted to Medanta Hospital.

The 36-day protest concluded on Saturday with the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan from his post.

The protest was withdrawn after the government agreed to all the demands of the CJP during the third round of talks.

Earlier on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the formation of a high-powered task force to recommend reforms in India's examination system.

The task force, headed by Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani, aims to make the examination system more reliable, transparent, and technology-driven.
