Kargil Vijay Diwas Celebrated In Ashta

On Sunday, the Green Field Conference Hall in Ashta, Madhya Pradesh, hosted a commemoration of Kargil Vijay Diwas, marking the success of Operation Vijay during the 1999 Kargil War. The event paid tribute to the soldiers who lost their lives in the war.

The programme began with floral tributes to Bharat Mata, followed by a two-minute silence in memory of the martyrs. Participants then took a collective pledge to honour and support the families of fallen soldiers.

Students who excelled in a Kargil War-themed quiz were felicitated during the event. Sakshi Jat received the 'Sajag Rashtra Prahari' award for securing first place, while Suresh Kushwaha, Nirmala Malakar, Ambika Sharma, Rajeshwari Sharma, and Bhagwati Prasad Sharma were honoured for securing second and third positions.

Agniveer personnel were also felicitated for their service to the nation. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Group Captain Vishnu Dutt Sharma, Captain Sardar Singh Rawat, and Tehsildar Ram Pagare.

Citizens from nearby cities, such as Sehore, Bhopal, Dewas, Shujalpur, and Khategaon, also attended the programme to pay homage to the Kargil martyrs. The programme concluded with the singing of Vande Mataram, the National Anthem, and chants of Bharat Mata Ki Jai.

Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed annually on July 26 to commemorate the success of Operation Vijay. The operation was launched by the Indian Army in 1999 to recapture territories occupied by Pakistani intruders in the Kargil district of Jammu and Kashmir.
